Forgiveness Poem

I know. I know you know

What you’ve done to love

I know your days are long rivers

and seas

I know that you are lost now

in the wind

Listen: there are words to say

that can change us

Will you say them? Will you prove them?

Will you be them?

Darling,

I, too, have loved in this one life

Look up at the twinkling stars in the sky

Even the birds get to come home again

Come, then. Come home again and talk to me.

Say ‘I love you’ and I will let you in.
