The Bad Cook’s Guide To Indian Cooking

Anyone who knows me will attest I’m a terrible cook. I have tried to make dishes on occasion, and they come out surprisingly well. Maybe it’s because it’s in my genes. My maternal grandmother used to make ‘gajar’ ka halwa like you wouldn’t believe. Even when I was 100 kg, she offered ‘gajar ka halwa’ and ‘mysorepa.’ Of course, I could never resist it.

I learned how to make dishes from my friend from Hewlett-Packard: Z. They came out amazingly well, too. They were recipes involving Masur Dal, which I didn’t even know existed until I met Z.

My mother makes tasty dishes on most Sundays, usually when the cook is on leave. Despite all this, I have also been the girl who has burned both water and milk! The stigma remains.

So, for girls like me, Aakansha Sethi’s book – ‘The Bad Cook’s Guide to Indian Cooking’ is a great option. I love colourful collages, and this book has been made with much love and effort. It took Aakanksha a decade to create this labour of love. Go out and buy it wherever books are available.

Note – The book was a gift from Juggernaut Books.
