This month’s question — When you set out to write a story, do you try to be more original or do you try to give readers what they want?
When I set out to write a story, it is usually to a prompt. I just let the words flow out. A lot of it depends on what I’m thinking of at that moment and what’s running through my mind in relation to the prompt.
I’m not sure who my readers are …leave alone know what they want. I mean who are those people who are actually reading my stories other than the handful that click like on my post ( in case it’s a blog) or those who reach out? Sometimes, I feel things go into a black hole, even though I relentlessly share my work.

Hi Aishwariya. Glad to see you here. I’m sure you’ll find a good writing community at the IWSG that will help you understand your writing journey better. I think you’ve got a great combination of writing and not being bothered by readership.
My writing style is pretty fluid these days, as well. I’ve finally reached the point in my life where I just like the process of writing, and getting to know my characters and their stories, without being concerned with all the rules.
Readership will come. Just enjoy writing and without the pressure.

That’s part of the adventure – connecting with the thoughts of people you’d rarely have a chance to meet. .
Just before writing my IWSG post, I was walking on Hadrian’s Wall – (I live quite near) studying wall maps of the Roman Empire, and sharing the thoughts of people who lived there almost two thousand years ago.
One soldier – from the area now called Romania, wrote about the death of his baby son. Further along the wall, postcard messages, from the same time, party invitations, messages about warm socks and underwear.
