Until today, I had heard of the phrase NETI NETI thanks to author Anjum Hasan’s book of the same name. Today, when I saw my Dad reading the Upanishads, I asked him to teach me something from it.

He mentioned NETI NETI and said it meant Not this; Not this. It is an expression from Hindu philosophy – the Advaita Vedanta philosophy.

I am not this body; I’m not this thought, etc. By stripping away everything that changes, decays or is an object of the mind, what remains cannot be negated.
