To erase some of the negativity caused during the pandemic and because it was recommended to me by someone important, I picked up a copy of ‘The Magic’ by Rhonda Byrne. I had read her ‘Secret’ many years ago, which explained the power of attraction and ‘Ask. Believe. Receive.’
If there is one underlying principle in ‘The Magic,’ it is gratitude. Rhonda Byrne tells us how over the ages, legendary writers, scientists, and other luminaries used the power of gratitude to get blessed with health, wealth, happiness, etc.
She lays out a 28-day plan wherein each day you do what is outlined for you that day. For example, every day you are asked to list 10 blessings. You are also asked to look for a ‘magic rock’ and hold it in your palm and recall the best moment of your day just before you go to sleep. There are different tasks for you each day.
Rhonda Byrne aims to show us that the magic we believed in as children is true and it is the disillusioned adult perspective that is false. She quotes Roald Dahl to say “Those who don’t believe in magic will never find it, “which has always been one of my favorite quotes.
She also says that “Whoever has gratitude will be given more, and he or she will have an abundance. Whoever does not have gratitude, even what he or she has will be taken from him or her,” highlighting the power of gratitude.
