My ‘Lifeline’ ( Pun Intended) At The World Bank

When I worked with the back office of The World Bank in Chennai, my work was driving me to suicide. I spoke with Venkat from the DC office who is my class mate from Madras University. I told him they are torturing me and then they keep throwing it in my face that I’m working at D level when I’m E level. Is this job more important or my life? I refuse to end up dead just because I didn’t quit this job. I told the World Bank people that let it be…let me resign and say i was fired.

They kept telling me it would harm my future prospects. So grudgingly I signed it and even told the HR good things like I liked all my colleagues. She told me ‘Aishwariya’ that’s not what an exit interview is for. You must be honest and tell them the challenges you faced.

My HR at the World Bank was Ms. Sindhuja Shankar.
