How I spent my summer holidays after class 10, was to enroll in sketching classes with a hobby centre in Kilpauk and sketch with my friend who joined the classes with me. We went there all summer and got a certificate at the end of it. In primary classes, such as class five, I often spent the summer vacations going to Mahabalipuram with my parents. My childhood friends would join us and my parents would take us all to the beach in our Amabassador car. We would make lists of things to take, pack interesting things in our car, carry a music player and listen to music loudly and lie in the water in Mahabalipuram without so much as a spot of sunscreen.

We of course came back after two days looking like black, dried prunes. We had the best time, however, those days. These form an important part of my childhood memories, and sadly it doesn’t look like they can be replicated since we are all grown -ups now, and we have changed immeasurably.
