How I Dealt With My Hairline Fracture

I had a hairline fracture in my knee around 10th April 2025 when I slipped and fell down the stairs. For three days, I wore this knee brace and lay in bed. I had to skip my bath for two days. It was peak summer. It was awful. Thankfully, the AC was working.

After two days, I felt better since I was putting my body weight on my right knee instead of the left and managing. I did NOT wear the knee brace at night since I felt it wouldn’t be good and may lead to clotting or some problem which would restrict the flow of blood.

Touch wood, I’m fine now. No doctor, no X- ray, no hospital. I applied what I learned from the time I had my first hairline fracture in Hyderabad in 2008 when I played badminton on a concrete court without footwear.

Back then a former colleague iced my foot and brought me iodex. I did something totally different this time, but since I’ve had a hairline fracture before and not rushed to the hospital then and lived to tell the tale, I confidently treated myself. You live, you learn.

I must improve my calcium intake though, coz today, when I was out, the bones in my foot felt brittle.
