When I was in Class 4 in Chennai, I acted as Pinocchio. In Class 7, I was a witch in a different school in Bengal. I got the first prize. RP directed me. I also acted as a paan wala, Henry Higgins, and the Mechanical Man on the school stage. I acted as Addiction in Kolkata and as Othello in Gyan Manch. I was part of the Leadership Training Service in SJC and took part in group discussions.
After returning to Chennai, I didn’t take part in plays for a while. But I did take part in interschool fashion shows in classes 11 and 12 at another school.
In College, I acted in one of Neil Simon’s plays, The Star-Spangled Girl. I also acted as Casca in Julius Caesar. I used to take part in ad-zap in college.
Aside from this, I took part in shot put, discus, and javelin at schools in Chennai and West Bengal.
These days, I’m not interested in taking part in plays. I’d rather be a part of the audience if the play is good. I prefer to express myself through writing. E-meets are not my preferred way to catch up. I think meeting a friend or two at a cafe or eatery sounds better.
