I’m happy I have never considered changing the body and face God has given me. Well, I did think of losing weight or fat through artificial means a long time ago. But when a “doctor” told me to undergo bariatric surgery and I looked up the risks of doing the surgery, I knew it was an insane idea.
There is a 2 percent chance of death. Most of the weight comes back. This I know since I have checked out two ‘regular’ individuals ( not ‘celebrities’) who have undergone bariatric surgery. One is a journalist whose ‘before’ and ‘after’ pics I saw and he had gained all his weight back. The other one was the ‘secretary’ of a doctor who performed the operation on her. She said her stomach had been cut and stapled back to reduce its size. She could eat only 1.5 idlis every morning. If she ate any more, she would vomit.
The doctor tried to shame me by saying things like ‘ you will always remain an aunty and never a girl if you don’t do bariatric surgery.’ Alhough this was said to me ages back, today at 47 I’m happy to be an aunty. There is nothing ‘bad’ intended in the word aunty. People say it to mock women who grow older, but doesn’t everyone grow old? Including the person mocking? Today, that doctor has about 11 pending cases of malpractice against him. I’m a happy aunty.
