My mother has homeschooled herself her whole life. After getting very high marks in her school exams and deciding not to join IIT, she married my dad at age 21. Had me at 22.
Since I grew up in a house full of books, I learned everything I know from books and cats( since our home was something of a menagerie)
I became a better person after going to the compound of an industrial city. It was 17 towns away from the city, so I was mostly within the compound.
There was a swimming pool, a tennis court, a library. a jogging track, a putting green, 5 bungalows, a hi-rise, walk-in wardrobes, some older houses with spooky stories around them, an ancient lighting system and a dhaba in the neighborhood. ( Jha Jha Singh)
There was Bandel Church, the Hooghly River, Chandannagore ( where my school SJC is located – St. Joseph’s Convent) – and other historical landmarks. To go to school, we had a school tempo for the compound children. I was always late to catch the bus and would sometimes enter the bus carrying my breakfast. Some of the parents of the children were our teachers – right from kindergarden to class ten. Some of the company families lived outside the compound: In the Estate, as it was called. There was a school there, too.
