Maia’s Musings by Mannjiit Kaur

Healer and poet Manjiit Kaur sent me the poetry book Maia’s Musings when she requested a review. The poet is the winner of the 21st Century Emily Dickinson Award. This 63-page book has been published by BookLeaf Publishing. It consists of poems that are reflective, pensive, and show the poet thinking through her life, coming to terms with solititude, reflecting on the difference between solitude and loneliness, and so on.

The initial poems like ‘On Slowing Down’, ‘Uncharted Territory’, ‘The Gift’, ‘The Fight’, and so on, can be categorized as free verse. The poems that occupy the latter half of the book, aren’t strictly poems. They are more like fleeting thoughts or musings. They are beautifully written.
