For Pride Month As An Ally

I think the first gay person I met who was “out” officially was A whom I met in 2003. He was intensely emotional, extremely sensitive and had a chequered past. He said he had slept on the streets in Mumbai etc. He treated his hair with straightening agents. He wrote poetic copy.

Some of the women on the team said he ‘tortured’ them. I being a self-diagnosed neurodivergent, had no problem with him except that I spoke without filters. Now, I have learned to set boundaries after repeated petit disasters.

With boundaries and filters, my life is not as chaotic as it can sometimes get. I value my peace and as N said about herself, ” She has one brain and she has to protect it at all costs.”

Lessons Learnt.
