I received a book review request recently and since it was of a young girl’s book, I accepted it. She is just nine years old!
And it has proved to be the most delightful read and visual treat.
Jianna’s descriptive and detailed account of her trip to Australia with her parents and sister is a must-read for so many reasons.
It is a legitimate travelogue and by a girl so young.
It describes every place the family visited and each detail of their trip – be it funny or frustrating. For instance, the author’s dad leaves behind some important documents, leading to a last-minute rush. Later in the book, the mom misplaces her wallet and how they go about lodging a complaint is explored in great detail.
It seems to be a happy, jolly family that has relatives and friends worldwide. So every year, the children go to London for their break and this time, it’s to Australia.
Once they reach Sydney, their experiences with the Sydney Harbor Bridge Climb, their visits to two universities, a chocolate factory, and a mall named Chadstone are described in detail with pictures.
Their experience with the Great Ocean Drive on The Great Ocean Road, their sighting of 30 kangaroos and two donkeys, the Blue Mountains, the waterfalls, and walk from Bondi Beach to Bronte Beach is also described with pictures and word portraits.
The kids ( children of both families) get together for a wild sleepover while the adults attend a wedding. Minute observations are noted by the author and she comes across as a responsible and caring daughter and sister.
A host of delicacies from pasta and fries to marshmallows and gulab jamuns await us in this book. Their packing that goes on for two hours to opting for extra baggage space is done and described in this adventurous and fun read.
Pick it up for your child if you, too, belong to a fun frolicking family a la the types we see in Karan Johar’s films.

Kudos to the young Jianna Chabbria. To be writing and publishing a book at such a young age is certainly a milestone. It’s wonderful that you have reviewed the book. Your review is a very pleasant read.
Her book is outstanding considering she is just nine! I’m going to watch out for her future books:)
