The day I received the book ‘All Kinds of Stupid’ for review, I was having a terrible time. Until the book arrived. It brightened up my day so much and the book really spoke to me.
Written by Saheba Singh, this book of experimental poetry even made me remark on my Instagram handle that it was the kind of book I wish I had written. That still stands although for various reasons I haven’t been able to write and post my review until today.
I love how she has creatively used the Facebook practice of writing “relationship status” to display the genre of the book indicating that it is genre defying or genre bending. It does not fit into a tight little compartment. I love the use of the Rosharch ink blots all through the pages. The illustrations are edgy and fabulous.
The book goes by the hashtag #AKOS on social media. It has been covered in an Indian Express article, too.
The author/poet too does not restrict herself by placing imaginary boundaries for herself or her work. She is a designer, artist, writer – sometimes just one role fits, sometimes she plays all roles. As she indicates, “it’s complicated”.
The experimental poetry is about love, longing, dark thoughts, and musings. Check it out. It’s by Fingerprint publications. As she says, “I’m writing this for all those quiet corners of the heart that are never heard. “
