On Books, Writing, Editing, and More

As a child, I was such a monkey! I used to stand on the narrow gate at the entrance to my old house and walk up and down, holding a tree branch for support and safety. I jumped from the first floor of my apartment to the ground floor on more than one occasion and lived to tell the tale. I have climbed from the ground floor to the terrace by shimmying onto the sunshade. I climbed from one bathroom to the other through a narrow gap on top that connected the two bathrooms.

Everyone used to wonder how I never broke an arm or a leg. I’m grateful I didn’t. I used to play Kho Kho with my bare feet. Of course, sports shoes were available, but I never had spikes in my size. It was the late 80s. My dad used to take a drawing of my foot and get me shoes from Kolkata, etc. More than embarrassing, it was inconvenient. And my dad is so sweet to have done all this for me. For many years, I’d forgotten a lot of these beautiful memories. I’m happy I’m able to remember them again.
