My first editing job (contract) was with NIIT. I was happy that it was close to where I stayed then. The colleagues were mostly girls. I learned about MSTP, the Chicago Manual of Style, The Elements of Style, etc. because I used to edit the K-12 curriculum for the ‘Shiksha Project’, edit content for Microsoft, etc. I believe in learning by doing since that’s what worked for me. ID folks always refer to the ‘Theory of Multiple Intelligences’ by Gardner. During my next move, (which was with Aptech), I edited a lot of PPTs on various topics. I also underwent an ID course(remotely) from Symbiosis, Pune. Since then, I have worked as an editor with Cognizant ( e-learning divisions in the Navalur, TCO, and Siruseri offices) and briefly in the main city office as a part of the large deals team.
I have also worked with UBS (Hyderabad) editing their business presentations for the EMEA region, with Hewlett-Packard as a writer of marketing collateral catering to the US markets, with The World Bank as an editor in their Knowledge Management team in Chennai, as a senior marcom editor in India Syndicate – special projects ( in Bangalore), as a content specialist with Unspun ( a startup in Bangalore), with Flipkart in Bangalore; with Runway2Street, Chennai – a Fashion Startup, which was a part of Enqos, as a content marketer; as an associate creative director with Ogilvy – Bangalore – and as a content consultant with Gutenberg from 2017- 2024.
