I stay away from most -isms. Somehow these isms get twisted in common parlance and are made to look bad. Sadly, autism is included in this list.
It is made out to be a “developmental disability” which somehow indicates to the general public that there is something wrong with the person. Their IQ has been affected, or they are slow in understanding things or some other such reductionist label.
What if the strengths of the autistic community were to be highlighted rather than these sad sounding s0-called flaws?
Did you know ELON MUSK is supposed to have autism. WOULD YOU PITY him?
No, right? He is one of the world’s richest men in the world and most successful inventor, scientist, innovator etc. Sure, people love to bash him. Do you think he CARES in the least bit?
So I wish people would get some perspective and respect others for their differences rather than bash them and try to minimize them in some way.
