My Yercaud Trip and Other Trips

You probably read what my mother had to say about our Yercaud trip. She liked it. I, on the other hand, not so much. I’d been blogging till the last minute the day before the trip, so I forgot to pack a couple of essential tablets. We ran pillar to post in Salem trying to get hold of them, but to no avail. Also, I had become nauseated in the car trip from Chennai to Yercaud. After eating the homecooked meal at the homestay, I caught a stomach bug in a day or two, and my trip was pretty much ruined. I tried to make the best of a bad situation and checked into a separate room, but the appearance of a tiny cockroach ruined that for me.

I’m terrified of birds sitting on me, so I skipped the ‘Jurong bird park’like bird park out there. I stayed mostly indoors and was relieved when we reached Chennai again. I get car sick on most trips and prefer to remain indoors. The winding roads and hairpin bends induced nausea, and I threw up at least six times on the road on the way back. I drank Limca to help stem the nausea. So although trips sound glamorous – be it to Ibiza or Yercaud, they involve a lot of vomiting and discomfort – at least for me. Also, I dislike staying in tents – and I’m not the type to enjoy wearing leech socks in the midst of a jungle. ‘Coz I’ve been there, done that, too.
