The war of the elements

One day on planet earth

Fire challenged water

“Watch out, or I’ll burn you!”

Water was calm and true

She said, “It does not behoove you

To act in haste…”

Fire realised that water

Was more powerful than he

And recognised her infinite grace

He learned a thing or two about

Being in water’s icy embrace

When he went near her,

She sizzled and changed form

Fire was sad that even though

He tried to make amends

He was spurned

He died and turned in his grave.
